At CES Power, powering projects across the U.S., UK, and Europe is only part of what we do. Equally important is investing in the future by training the next generation of engineers and specialists through our UK Apprenticeship Program.
The program combines classroom learning with hands-on training, giving young people the skills and confidence to thrive in our industry. As apprentice Dan described it, “The program supports young people by combining college classes with real-world work, so we get hands-on experience to grow our skills and complement what we learn at college.”
Apprentice Daniel Carberry is a great example of how this approach works in practice. In just his first year, he has earned certifications in forklift operation, fuel tank testing, and has begun his IMI Level 3 Land-Based Engineering course, which will provide him with a strong foundation in engineering over the next three years. He’s also had opportunities to work across depots, test temporary power equipment, and support high- profile events like Leeds Festival and Lytham St Annes, all while gaining insight into the construction and industrial sides of the business.
“This past year at CES Power has given me qualifications, opportunities, and confidence,” Daniel explained. “Post-apprenticeship, I know I’ll have the support to choose a career path that’s right for me, whether that’s events, industrial power, or beyond.”
This combination of formal training and real-world experience makes this apprenticeship program a launchpad for long-term careers. It’s a model that doesn’t just benefit our apprentices but strengthens our entire industry by preparing skilled, motivated professionals for the future. And while the current focus is on engineering, CES Power is planning to expand apprenticeships into sales and support functions, creating even more opportunities for young people to begin their careers with us.
The program has already earned recognition, including being named Best New Employer by the Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG), but what excites us most is seeing apprentices like Daniel build their skills, confidence, and careers. We know the future of power depends on the people who deliver it, and through our apprenticeship program, we’re ensuring that future is brighter than ever.
